Has your website brought sufficient new business?

As you can see from my picture I am not a young Internet wiz kid. Nor am I a website designer or an Internet marketing guru. I have produced a few websites in the past for previous businesses. My view used to be to put up a website as a 'brochure'. Submit it to a few of the main search engines and hope it got found. It rarely did. What a waste of time, effort and money. Designing a website is one skill, getting it a high ranking on a search engine (Search Engine Optimization) like Google or Yahoo is another skill.

A good website is not just about the look, ease of navigation and information it provides. A good website is one that is easily found by your potential customers. If your website designer does not offer you both good design and SEO, you would be better off making a video of your business and uploading it to YouTube and other similar video sites. You would get more exposure there than having a website no one can find. And it would cost you nothing if you made the video yourself.

Optimized Website + Video = High Ranking.

I am not a website designer but I know how to improve a websites visibility. I have improved family and friend’s websites which has given me a good deal of knowledge about optimizing a website for the search engines like Google, Yahoo, MSN, etc.  Good website optimization along with video will help to reach a page one listing on the search engines like Google.

Since relaunching my website as an 'Internet marketing' site at the end of 2008 you can see from this Google search for 'Lanmark' that my website appears on page one of Google of over 43 million searches. The main reason for it's high ranking is the length of time my website has been on the Internet. That said unless you know my website is called 'Lanmark' you will not find it. I now need to optimize my website for the keywords I want people to find me for. There are two ways to do that 1. optimize your website for the relevant keywords and 2. add video to your website.

A picture = a thousand words. Video = a thousand pictures.

I have found that the major development of the Internet is video. I have produced a number of videos for the Internet and inserted a videos into websites which have improved their ranking on the Internet search engines like Google, Yahoo, MSN, etc. I was able to produce simple business videos using a regular camcorder and inexpensive video editing software. Even a montage of photos can create a video.

If you want to improve or promote your business via your website you should add an online video or two, now. This is the simplest way to improve your site ranking on Google. Google loves video and will rank a video so long as the description and tags (keywords) are added when the video is uploaded to sites like YouTube. If you do not want to make or up load your own videos then there are companies and individuals like me who offer to produce on-line videos and help with improving a websites page ranking.

A Business Video is cost effective.

If you are happy with your website but it is not getting ranked very high then add video to your website. It is a very cost effective way to market your business. Video gives your website visitors another way to view your business. Also there are a growing number of websites wanting new videos added to their website as content. This means a search result could list your business video high in a search engine, way above your own website.

There are many reasons a video can help you market your business far better than just having pictures and text. Consider the following areas of business where a video could get across your message:-
